Handbook / Current desktop documentation
Information & Media
About, hardware, AI usage, weather, calendar, media and notifications.
This is the English desktop Handbook, published online from the same generated catalog. References to buttons, panels and menus describe the installed desktop. Package updates can be newer than the downloadable ISO. Check installation & validation scope.
Notification cards show their local arrival date and time beneath the title, in both popups and notification history. Times are kept only for this session.
System > Information
About displays the EITR summary, including the installed EITR version, in a terminal. Hardware shows CPU, GPU,
RAM and storage for the drive backing /; other disks are not combined into
that total. Missing sensor/GPU telemetry is marked unavailable.
AI Usage detects installed/configured clients. Cached usage appears first; refresh does not launch sign-in or conversations. It shows each account's limits; percentages mean the part of a limit already used.
Every detected provider has its own section with its plan, limits and errors. Click a heading to fold or unfold only that section. All sections start expanded; folding is remembered on this machine. Long lists scroll within the screen.
Weather uses the default location and supports temporary city searches. The override ends when the panel closes. Escape clears city search before closing; temperature units follow the location, with an alternate unit alongside.
Calendar and media
Click the clock/date for the calendar. It keeps six week rows and shows year progress below the grid. Navigate with the previous/next buttons, Today, arrow keys or T. Search Calendar from Walker if the bar is hidden.
Click the animated equalizer for cover/title/artist, previous/play/next and seeking when supported. It hides without an eligible player and excludes recognized meetings. The bars indicate playback, not captured audio.
Notifications
SUPER + N or the bell opens the notification center. Notifications group by application. The newest card fronts a stack; expand it to see older cards. Dismiss one card or clear a group/all deliberately. Popups also stack by app, showing the newest message over backing layers; hover pauses their expiry.
Notifications have a soft inward glow in the theme's accent colour; critical ones glow in the theme's red instead, and low-priority ones are subdued with no glow. Do Not Disturb suppresses popups without deleting history. History stays in memory across config reloads, not process restarts. No notification contents are saved as a log.
